Okra and Tomatoes

1 onion, diced
1 green pepper (optional), chopped
3 tablespoons butter or corn oil
1/2 pound okra, sliced
3 cups tomatoes, fresh or canned
pinch of sugar
salt & pepper to taste
Sauté onion (and green pepper, if desired) in oil or butter. Add
okra and fry five minutes. Add tomatoes, sugar, salt, and pepper.
Cover and cook 15 minutes. Remove cover and let simmer 5 minutes
longer.
